It’s my favourite time of the year! With the weather a bit cooler now, I’m frequenting my wine fridge a bit more than the beer fridge. My beloved Collingwood Magpies are sitting atop the AFL ladder and the Brisbane Golf Course is in fantastic condition!

Here in the Brisbane office, we continue to grow our team! Since my last update we’ve welcomed Danny Cannan as a Business Development Manager. Danny will be known to many of you from his time as an underwriter and state underwriting manager at OnePath and ANZ Wealth.

Speaking of growth, NEOS continues to grow with more excitement ahead as we continue to push forward in the development of our insurance platform, delivering a vastly superior and efficient experience for advisers writing risk.

We’re working on our third product – giving you and your clients three competitive products to choose from, all accessible through our NEOS Life Platform and with the same dedicated support team (BDM, underwriter and sales consultant). We look forward to meeting with you all to share our world first insurance platform vision and how it will assist you in providing protection for your clients.

The Life Insurance Code of Practice was introduced in July 2017 and set important benchmarks to ensure that consumers can take out life insurance with confidence, that, if the time comes, their life insurer will be there to support them.

The New Life Code, which will come into force on 1 July 2023, introduces over 50 new important consumer protections that cover every aspect of how customers interact with their life insurer – from the way products are designed, to how they are sold and for those customers who make a claim.

Key changes are around new protections for customers going through times of vulnerability, financial hardship or experiencing a mental health condition. NEOS is developing customer facing policies to support customers requiring additional support. These will be hosted on our new NEOS Group website page.

We’re therefore pleased to welcome a new addition to our sales team.

Daniel Cannan joins the Queensland sales team as a Business Development Manager. With over 12 years’ experience in the financial services industry, Daniel joins from Australian Retirement Trust where he was a senior underwriter. Making the jump to sales, Daniel will bring his strong underwriting experience along with his adviser relationships – making him the perfect addition to the team.

We’ll continue to invest in the resources we need to provide the best experience – the NEOS Experience – our advisers are used to.

In case you haven’t heard, NEOS was named the Overall Platinum Life Company at the 2022 AFA Life Company of the Year awards.

In addition to this, we also won the Service Quality award (for the second year in a row), the Underwriting Team of the Year award (for the fourth year in a row) and the BDM/Support Team of the Year (for the third year in a row).
